Position Profile
Guiding Star Southwest, a division of Southwest Coalition, Inc., is searching for a Medical Biller to join its mission in expanding life-affirming medical services for women in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, New Mexico. As an affiliate of the national Guiding Star Project and inspired by St. Mary, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Guiding Star Southwest is committed to delivering trauma-informed healthcare that respects the whole person by considering a woman’s mind, body, and soul. The organization’s focus spans the full spectrum of women’s health, from puberty through perimenopause, and emphasizes fertility, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and motherhood, while striving to reduce trauma by advocating against societal pressures that may compromise the natural functions of a woman’s body. The ideal candidate is a compassionate Medical Biller with a servant’s heart, eager to be both a voice and provider for wholistic comprehensive care.
The Opportunity
As we expand our core services to include a birth center in alignment with Wholistic Feminism, we are looking for a Medical Biller to be responsible for working diligently with our patients and their insurance companies providing timely health care to women and infants post-pregnancy.
To be a successful Medical Biller, you should be dedicated and focused on providing top-quality patient service which includes speaking to patients on a regularly basis and being an expert in communicating needs to the provider(s) and/or the insurance agencies. You should have a strong working knowledge of clinical process and OB/GYN and/or Family Practice billing experience, as well as have a patient, caring, and detail-oriented personality.

What the Role Entails
The following are detailed performance objectives for the Medical Billing/Coding Administrator. When measuring overall aptitude and cultural fit, all candidates will be benchmarked using these standards.
Job Description
- Oversee medical credentialing, billing, and coding to accept insurance.
- Managing the day-to-day office administration of the medical practice.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with all safety and health regulations.
- Working with Finance Department to manage budgets and payroll.
- Collaborate with the leadership team and medical personnel to develop and assess mission strategies and patient services.
- Monitoring inventory and placing orders for resupply.
- Ensure policies and best practices are up to industry standards and government regulations
- Source vendors for medical equipment, healthcare supplies, furniture, computers, and other essential items for the clinic, waiting room, and office area.
- Interacting with patients to address any concerns or complaints.
- Maintain a patient-centered focus, ensuring a positive experience for all patients
- Implement strategies to enhance patient satisfaction and loyalty.
- Organize patient records using electronic health records keeping
- Supervise daily practice operations such as billing, debt collections, security, and occupational health and safety
- Monitor the inventory for medications and medical equipment and organize for resupply
- Coordinate regular staff meetings and performance reviews
- Must be a professed, faithful, and engaged Christian and be passionately pro-life, exhibiting a reverence for life at all ages from conception to a natural death
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; Be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to execute duties with little supervision and work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Highest level of personal integrity, must be humbly confident, hard-working, and trustworthy and work with a positive, friendly, and patient attitude

- Availability from Monday - Friday from 8 AM - 5 PM & Saturday from 8 AM - 12 PM (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (Preferred)
- Required to speak both english and spanish fluently.
- Proven 3+ years experience as a Family Practice/OBGYN Biller.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, billing, and coding practices (Required)
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Proficient in healthcare management software and Google Workspace
- Regularly required to walk, stand, drive, sit for long periods of time (Required)
- Must be proficient at entering data in a quick and efficient manner (Required)
- Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 40 pounds. (Required)
